a piece of paper

I study in a university in a city called Homs which is 2 hours drive in a bus from the capital Damascus, the bus ticket costs around 2.5 dollars and it's a piece of paper.
Today i had to go and copy my secondary school certificate to apply to another overseas universities, strangely i looked at the certificate and i was surprised that it looks exactly the same basic type of that bus ticket, i started to think that a piece of paper and another piece of paper same shape, one costs 2.5 dollars and the other cost a year of hard work and studying, one send you 170 KM away and the other one sends you to university and brighter future.
if you make a piece of paper the same shape and size it will mean nothing to anyone and it will worth nothing, if you paint a great picture on that paper that might become worth thousands of dollars, if you are a good drawer, and it will worth your parents or teachers love if you were 5 years old.
the same paper which makes you go to university can mean nothing to a person who doesn't know how to read, or the great picture will mean nothing to those without art interests...
same thing goes with the flag of a country, a piece of clothes colored in a certain way what makes it special?, what makes people die to protect it to keep it up?

It's what that piece of paper means to the student who worked and studied and passed, and that piece of clothes means to the person in that country and how proud it makes him/her when he looks at that flag and he wants to protect it and keep it up so the future generations will feel the same thing.

it's the believe and faith this paper means that i'm a university student now! i have a brighter future!, and the believe that me and my children and other people's children will feel proud and have a home country to return to, a big family back home waiting for us under that flag.

i saw a movie once called "V for vendetta" and in his speech he say this quote: "Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth".

"means to meaning" he says. the words; freedom, truth, justice, fairness and equality means something it's not just a string or letters randomly  they are not just words, they are perspectives.

everything has a meaning, everything has a reason and everything with believe change to something else in your heart.

i have a friend who never said "i can't do this" you know what he always said in times like that?
he used to say: "i CAN, not do this" like if he had chosen not to do it because he CAN either way do it or not do it... that line made him believe in himself and never stepped back in anything...

so put a meaning to your life, a meaning that you can be proud of and wish if your children or the whole world felt that great feeling.

i wish you a lovely day ^^
