Flash back
I was walking in the street today to buy some stuff for the lunch and it was the time when students go home, i saw children from kindergarten, elementary, secondary, and even high school in the street ...
everyone walking with their friends, laughing or talking or fighting...
some running home to watch their favorite TV show (at most) or to write their homework (which is obviously rare)...
some tired and hardly holding their bags, can't wait to be home to sleep or eat...
and I started to remember when i was in school not so long ago, and like every children in this world i wanted to grow up fast so i can be "happy"... when I started university three years ago i was so happy i'm grown now! but i wanted to grow more to be "happy"...
when i was young i was so annoyed when i hear a grown up saying: "i miss the old days". or hiding their age and try to act as if they were 20 again when they are 30 or something, it annoyed me a lot! and i used to think when i'm 40 i will be happy and i will shout that i am 40 years old.
well now it came to my mind as we, children or young people, want to grow up or feel grown so we use smoking, drinking, make up, a way of dressing... or whatever to make us feel older in order to feel "happy" we the same people who are acting older after 20 years would use anything to feel younger! why!? ... sadly.. for the same reason to feel "happy"
so my dear reader live the age you are in and as long as you are not doing something wrong to towards your health, religion, morals, others... then do what you want and be happy in the age you are...
"be yourself no matter what they say..." try to feel happy they way you are and don't tie yourself with "being cool" or accepted my others everyone is special.
i know many people who act the way they are not and does things that is wrong and bad and sometimes abandon their religion or culture or morals or good manners just to be accepted in school or to be called as "cool" guys or popular... i never understand that...
and a lot more who don't study or even fail sometimes because they don't want others to call them "nerds" and sometimes lie about it when he/she got asked "did you study for today's test?" and say no just for that stupid reason! i never understand that... i'm always happy when someone calls me a nerd or a geek coz that means i'm smarter than they ever can be.
i always like this song which sang by sting, it's called "Englishman in new york" tells you to
"be yourself no matter what they say.."
"takes a man to suffer ignorance and smile..."

you know, i don't really like this words 'be yourself'. should i say this words to a criminal? 'be yourself, NO MATTER WHAT. even there's people said you're criminal'. does it make sense? hehe :P
ReplyDeletebut i still agree with all your statement above. i don't understand why there's people who wanted to go back to their old days. my old days are worst. haha. :P
hahah if you noticed i wrote to be yourself and do what you want as long as you are not doing something that hurt your health, others or is wrong in your religion or good manners...

i'm talking about people changing their selves just to fit in with other people and be liked haha
